You left me feeling breathless, drained and weary I felt alone, emotional and teary You touched my heart in a way I've never been touched before You left me wondering why and wanting to know more Like why did this have to happen and what it must have been like Not knowing what was ahead in the sea that dreadful night Frightened, frantic, desperate they all must have felt When on sighting the water rising and the danger this would have spelt All the passengers what they must have been feeling on that fateful night The agony the worry of their dreadful plight The fear must have been horrendous knowing the ship was going down And that almost certainly they would surely drown Many would soon know that they would not survive Others would be thankfull that they were still alive To the one's that perished on that fateful ship Prayers and thoughts survivors could only give And those who did miraculously survive how brave and couragous thay must have been they would have certainly been wondering why about the disaster they had seen I was inspired to write this after I had been to the picture's to see the movie titanic with my daughter in 1998. It was a very moving and emotional picture knowing that it really happened and that so many lives were lost unnecessarily and in such tragic and hopeless circumstances. |

Tracie~ I like this and can understand what prompted you to write it. Here's one I posted in Open #4 ... hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed yours. ~Marge Tindal~ Sailing to eternity lost and tossed upon the sea Sightless lovers dance no more entombed instead on oceans floor 'neath the cover of the sea Titanic lovers melody plays oh, so hauntingly ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Tracie~ I kind of figured you'd like it. Thanks for reminding me of the Titanic. I didn't go see the movie as it was just too tragic a story for me to watch. You put your pen on the pulse of the tragedy. Good job. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Wonderful poem. I can't imagine what must have went through the minds of the people on that ship. The vast array of emotions. Excellent tribute, Tracie. Michael |
