Autistic? Why do you not seem to understand, A simple instruction or command? Why do you not love and cuddle me, Or even sit upon my knee? I would love for you to climb a tree, And say; "Hey mum come and play with me." I would love for you to sit and play, Then help me tidy your mess away. I would like to take you into town, Without you acting like a clown. I would like for you to stay asleep, But out of bed you always leap. Why do you copy what i say? Why scream and shout every day? Why do you hate the car wash dear? Is it just another crazy fear? Why did i not have a 'Normal' child? A caring child so meek and mild? Why did this have to happen to me? And my little boy who is only three?? |

Lisa, very heartbreaking poem here. Is this your child? If so just love him anyway. God gave him to you for a reason. I know it must be frustrating at times but love can do amazing things. Ya never know....Big hugs to you!! Poetry~ Words falling on paper, painting a dream. Shawna R. Holder Boise, Idaho |

Lisa...I am well aware of how frustrating this can be at times and it rings in your poetry, but so also does your love for your child |

I had the awesome privilege of working with autistic children this past summer along with some other mentally and physically challenged people. What a wonder to behold!! The are absolutely awesome children if you can "get their drift." This past summer made me realize that I wanted to work with children such as this so I have decided to go into child psychology/ animal based therapy. I wish you luck and know that there are many many people in the world that have succeded with autism and lead very prosperous lives. A very heart touching poem indeed. Did you ever read about a frog who dreamed of being a king, and then became one? - Neil Diamond |

I can feel your frustration here, and beleive me when I say that I know exactly what you're going through. My brother has ADHD and a mild case of this disorder too, just hang in there and have faith, if you ever need to vent the anger, just e-mail me and we can talk...It takes one hell of a woman to keep sane sometimes, I know!!! Open arms can be the most fragile in the world... |

Dear Lisa A very touching poem showing how you feel The child knows love and to him it is so real We don’t understand the world he's in With your love this child will win Patience and love seems a small deed My heart goes out to you and here I weep With Gods love you find the strength to care And we all have love that we can share Fragile is his heart in a world we do not know Your Love will guide him and will show A way to be With thee Helmut The poem touched my inner soul, well done. The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools. |
