Drunk Driver

The flares on the road are bright red
and I can see the accident just up ahead.
A little boy, two or three
and a girl, just seventeen;
killed by a drunk man
in a big blue car
going at hight speeds,
not realizing how he went this far.
The kids are gone
but the man survived
and he must live,
though he, too, has somewhat died.

Sensitive and caring person you must be. A good rendition upon an often realistic scene.
Its short, to the point and very good read...

Very well done. So short and yet it says so much. I have just posted a poem concerning the same topic "Drunken Tragedy". Nice to see that more people are concerned.
Keep up the work

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

Welcome to Passions! This is a real heartbreaker. So sad because it is all too real.

I wish the man who killed my daughter had died, he should have but he didn't.

Don't ask me where I'm going, just listen when I'm gone and far away you'll hear me singing softly to the dawn.

I must confess, in replying to this post, I am a bit at a loss for words.

Such a sad poem...and sad that people can be irresponsible to the point of causing the death of others.

Well done.

Your poem, though disheartening, is definitely a success. It tumbles the reader into reflection. Perhaps in the reading, it will induce more of us to take up a stronger voice against such a tragic and deadly consequence. Thank you for sharing this one here.

Welcome to Passions.....not greater loss felt than that of wasted act of another.  Touching

Being in love with someone is more than just saying "I love you"
