She tries so hard to forget the past By drowning her sorrows in a champagne glass. But all it does is numb the pain. The hurt and memories still remain. She thought she wanted diamonds and pearls. And move about and see the world. But money can't buy love, they say. All the wrong choices she made that day. She cast aside a love so true. For someone with money she hardly knew. But life wasn't as good as she thought it would be. The fast circles she moved in found her sad and lonely. Those castles in her mind That she thought she would find Have been reduced to a pile of rubble. And all of her dreams have now crumbled. So back to her past she wants to go. To where she left off long ago. But the one who cared and gave her his heart Found someone new and made a new start. |

Very sad story, Eloise. Too bad time can't be turned back sometimes. Wonderful poem. I could feel her pain and her loneliness. Denise |

Very sad indeed, if only we could turn back time. Great Poem! What comes from the heart goes to the heart. Samuel Coleridge |

Isn't it true - We often don't appreciate the value of what we have until it's left our grasp...Nicely done, Eloise... |
