I yearn to Whisper Yes I yearn to whisper yes to you under a tree somewhere in the old south under a willow tree perhaps who’s tears drift slowly cleanly layering my hair in green and you with scarlet eyes sunset lit would sing to me a deep and true melody a sigh that lingers against the hair touch of tribute to the curve that bares the loving night a harp would be in cicada concert with my breathe and stars would peek and moonlight linger soft against the alabaster thigh of forever for I yearn for you to close you into my warmth to whisper yes somewhere under a tree in the old south In the dew of little things, the heart finds its morning and is refreshed. With scarlet eyes, sunset lit, This is a beautiful poem, that line was my favorite! Open arms can be the most fragile in the world... |

"Gone with the Wind" comes to mind. Nicely written...set's the mood willing to unwind. Romance, Oh how I love the sound here in the air. With southern comfort and it's flair. The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools. |

Beautiful, Martie. Sounds like Charleston to me! "and stars would peek and moonlight linger soft against the alabaster thigh of forever". Beautiful, I loved that! It matters not how strait the gate; How charged with punishments the scroll; I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul. --W.E. Henley |

Martie, This makes me want to head south and find the nearest willow tree~ Martie, this is so romantic. Must have come from a romantic heart and the pen of an exceptional poet. Fantastic! Liz |

I have never been to the south but it seemed the place to stage this romantic interlude. Someday I will travel there and....well maybe.... Thank you all for your wonderful comments! In the dew of little things, the heart finds its morning and is refreshed. (ee cummings) |

Martie, for not having been to the South, you've certainly captured the feeling of a romantic Southern night, from the cicadas to the sunset. The physical and emotional allure this lovely piece implies tugs at the reader's mind. Liked it very much! ![]() |
