The waves call softly whispering my name
low and sweet
as I stand beneath the moonlight,
on a snowy white beach.

The wind blows a calming breeze,
touching me with tender fingers of love,
caressing my soul wounded and deep.

The stars twinkle high in the sky,
lighting scenes from a life
that has slipped slowly by.

From far away I hear...
the hoot of a lonely owl,
so tender and sweet,
it's aching loneliness touching me.

Tears of sadness fall upon my cheeks,
I hear the waves calling, calling to me.

In the moonlight
far away from the sandy beach,
the waves fold round me,
so gentle and sweet.

All is still all is at peace.

In the moonlight on a snowy white beach,
The hoot of a lonely owl,
       sounds so alone
        and bittersweet.

Betty,
I hear what you hear in your poem.
It reads to me almost like a hymn.
Beautiful work.

A beautifully sad piece...my favorite kind.  This is extremely well done.

Betty, this is so lovely - it flows like gentle ocean waves.
Walking on the beach often has this effect on me too!

Well done indeed.

Whiskey... Thank you. One thing though... once the waves of the ocean touch your soul you're captured forever.

Thank You Elizabeth, my heart can sometimes sing... I think.

Severn... the walks make me feel free and alive. Thank you for the read.
