I no longer believe that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" Now growing older, my lonely heart just gets colder, but what do you expect from a man with no love in his life, who would want to be a poor beggar's wife? and how, on these streets, can i ever find love? "Why me?!" I ask of God above, "Why didn't i get the chances everyone else gets? "What could i have done to deserve all this?" All i wanna do is get out of this place! rags on my body, and mud on my face. my own stench starts to constrict my breath, as i lay here waiting, welcoming death. why should i even try to survive, nothing good can come from me being alive... |

Oh my. As long as there is a breath there is love. Such sadness. I hope these are just words, beautiful but sad words. Life is very precious and real. We must not waste one single moment of it. (((( HUGS)))) I'm here if you need a friend. B Gravitt |

You have captured the intensity of self loathing and despair with the utmost precision...very well done! Sad, yes, but the beauty lies in the sharing. Thank you. Claire |

What a sad poem! I hope this isn't really the way you feel, but you've come to the right place if you do. We'll be your friends. The poem captures the pain of being alone on the streets very well. Thank you for sharing this poem with us. Deborah |

Powerful piece - glad it isn't autobiographical - welcome btw! '...I want to be free - free to know people and their backgrounds - free to move to different parts of the world...' Sylvia Plath |
