Beside a gentle flowing stream, ...a loon to darkness calls, As moonlight filters through the leaves, ...and hush on evening falls. A doe appears with yearling fawn, ...on path of needled pine, Amid the stillness of the woods, ...the calm the soul entwine. I sit upon a fallen tree, ...in glow of Luna's orb, As mother deer and babied fawn, ...seek out herbacious forb. Above the stars of welkin's light, ...shine in majesty, Upon cathedral of the forest, ...beneath wood's canopy. Is said of man, he stands alone, ...in all of God's creation, For man can think, and man can feel, ...partake of love's sensation. But in the still of tranquil woods, ...when hear God's nature call, For that fleeting, tranquil instant, ...man is one with all. [This message has been edited by Mike (edited 01-03-2000).] |

This is beautiful Mike. I was there with you in that beautiful place thanks to your great imagery. Very well done! In the dew of little things, the heart finds its morning and is refreshed. (ee cummings) |

I found myself wanting to slow my breathing during the reading of this, hushing as to not break the spell you had me captured in. What a beautiful picture you painted with your words ![]() |

Superb poem Mike, you’ve done what great poets do on occasion, you wrote my thoughts. Thanks Craig Yes, I admit your general rule. That every poet is a fool: But I myself may serve to show it. That every fool is not a poet. |
