I follow the wild wind each night in my mind-
I kick off the traces, my freedom to find.
The path of the eagle my heart knows quite well-
But where we are winging I never shall tell.
My refuge is perfect to which I shall flee-
No sorrow, nor heartache it ever shall see.
A home where the loners before me have gone-
Where one’s never lonely, although he’s alone.
The croon of the wind in the willows is soft
It buoys my spirit, and keeps it aloft.
It soothes all the sorrow, that I’ve ever borne.
And comforts me gently till coming of morn.
The wild wind is moaning a summons for me-
And bids me to follow, to follow and see-
The place where it leads me, I never shall tell
But after my parting, ‘tis where I shall dwell.
The path of the wild wind is one I must tread-
Though often I find I approach it with dread,,,
It’s dark and foreboding, yet leads me to light-
I know I shall follow that pathway tonight.
I long for the time when I need not return-
And the candle of life I no longer shall burn...
As death’s lonely shadows shall over me creep-
The song of the wild wind shall croon me to sleep.

Slinger-

Wow !  This is very lovely.
Your words mesmerize me still.

Hard to believe this post is not even 24 hours old and I found it on page 3!

I like to start at the back of the pages
(I have 2 days displayed) and work my way forward.  Find some wonderful things I didn't get to AND this being one of them ..GOES BACK TO THE TOP for others to enjoy !
