The sullen years trudge slowly by- Each sulky dawn, does give the lie; To often used, and timeworn phrase... “Let’s look ahead to better days”. Better days? Than these, my friend? They shall not come, on that..depend. But why? A question often asked- I take upon myself the task.... No joy awaits the broken heart- When from their lives their true loves part. Nor waits the time of mercy mild To her whom death has took her child. For love unlike the multitude- Do claim, in tawdry passions rude... Does come but once, and once it’s gone A loveless life drags on and on. Emotions which most people trust- And oft call love, I fear are lusts. They burn unchecked, and often rage- Until there’s naught which can assuage.... Until those lusts the souls consume- And multitudes they tend to doom... So grudging time shall creep apace.. Until we finally end the race. Visit My Home Page http://www.geocities.com/montcogunslinger/HomePage.html |
