Whom the Bell Calls
~~~~~~~~~~~
The  bells  announced  the  wedding
in  the  church  across  the  park
Their  echo  flinched  a  nerve
and  made  my  daily  bottle  drop
~
With  tears  that  stung  my  eyes
as  my  clouded  memory  stirred
My thoughts raised from the broken glass
and  centered  on  the  church
~
The  parson  rhymed  the  ceremony
two  souls  for  God  to  nexus
You  could  have  heard  a  pin  drop
when I staggered through the entrance
~
The  parson  asked  the  witnesses
the  relatives  and  all
Are  any  here  opposed  today ?
Again  silence  filled  the  hall
~
The  eyes  of  every  tortured  soul
as  I  stood  and  cleared  my  throat
Attacked  this  bent  and  haggard  fool
with  hopes  to  push  me  out
~
The  only  friendly  soul  that  day
stood  out  above  the  crowd
The  parson  smiled  and  asked  of  me
then  my  rasping  voice  was  loud
~
My  apology  to  all  this  day
good  luck  to  Bride  and  Groom
My  bottle  broke  across  the  park
I  just  came  to  borrow  a  broom
Rex-
Took me a couple of reads to grasp it.
Definitely different.
Creative individuality places a unique signature on this piece.
Interesting, indeed.
My frown broke into a smile at the ending.  Love it!
You got me with the ending, too! Wonderful!
I like your lighthearted sense of humor! So refreshing!
Thanks for all the smiles everyone
thats what makes my perfect day
spilling
a little smile drop
in the pond
then sitting back
to watch the ring grow
