Who are you?

Who are you?
Are you my friend?
If so,
why do you allow me
to exist on the wrong side
of friendships boundary?

Knowing that I haven't the strength,
why do you not walk away?

Knowing that I love you more than I should
and that I want more from you than you're
capable of giving,
why do you stand there casually taking
the love that I offer?

Are you my friend?

If so,
why do you not protect me
(as a true friend would)
from the hurt that silently waits
just around the corner?

You were honest in the beginning
then you blinded me with empty words of love.

I love you

You know how I feel about you,
know that you cannot return those feelings,
yet still you feed those magic words
to my hungry heart.

Looking at the situation
I wonder,
are you truly my friend?

Indeed! Some people don't know the meaning of that word, for sure! Great poem!
