LABOR OF LOVE With a grumble from my mouth, a feeling of distaste, I pick up my rag, HOUSEWORK... I really hate! To our bedroom I go, the first room to clean, Dust off the bed, it shines to a sheen, I recall when the bedroom set arrived, It was Grandmother's, many years it has survived. I lovingly think of all the tickles we had, The laughter, the love in good times and bad. The dresser is next, this jewelry box I received, From my small children's hands many years ago I perceived. I recall the expectant pride and love in their eyes as they gave me this gift, what a wonderful surprise. As I move on, cleaning rooms one by one, Gifts that were given can measure love by the ton. A mirror from Mom decorates the hall, Angels handmade, bought, large and small, Are displayed proudly on the shelf near the door, Each bring memories of love evermore. An hour, then two slides quickly away, How did I not notice the time slip astray. The frown has gone, replaced by my smile, Our home is shining clean for a while. My labor of love is finished for now. The next time I feel sad and lonely somehow, I will pick up my dust rag and clean up my house, And remember I am loved, by my family and spouse. |

Wow ... what a thought ... I'll bet if we all pick up dust rags and roll up our sleeves, each of us could find an inspiration or two worth writing about. Rex |

Anita, I've been putting off cleaning, but you make cleaning house sound so nice, I can't wait to get home and clean. ~Gene |
