I Say His Absence Leaves No Empty Space... |

I feel a sorrow deep within my soul That burns inside like faint but steady pain; Perhaps I’m broken, never to be whole Until he’s back to stay with us again. - - - Yet no, I see we’ve both changed far too much To ever go back where we were before - I am alive - I laugh, I sing, I touch - I love my life, my freedom more and more. - - - So, strong and glad I pass the aching by And work to raise my children good and sweet; They don’t remember, they’ve no need to cry, Our life together stays full and complete. - - - I say his absence leaves no empty space... I say he’s gone and didn’t leave a trace... Yet still I know that none could take his place, And still, in crowds, I sometimes see his face. . . - - - (c) 1974 kaleidoscope [This message has been edited by kaleidoscope (edited 01-30-2000).] |

This brings back memories of when my dad left...I felt devastated for a while, but I kinda got used to it after some time. Beautiful poem! Little Spyro T. Dragon |

Kaleidoscope- Tender, yet strong ... loving remembrance. You wrote this 26 years ago? How did it turn out? Do you still see his face in a crowd ... or across a 'crowded' room? Or did he return to stand by your side? Now, you've got me mystified. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

You're very inquisitive, Marge. You tickle me! Well, I wrote this at a time of an early twenty's great rebellion. Yes, he came back, and we started on a new platform, so to speak, and it has worked marvelously ever since. Here we are, deeply in love, and he's 50 and I'm nearly there. The babies have grown and gone, and we have been busy enjoying each other more than ever before. |

Inquisitive? Who me? I'd prefer INTRIGUED. Well, at least you didn't call me nosey. Just happy to know that things have turned out okay. Did I say okay? I meant GREAT ! Awwwwwwww! I'm so glad. Sounds like love to me ! I think you write really nice things. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

Wonderful poem. Seems like love has a better chance of survival when it grows from the strength you found inside yourself. |

This did bring back many memories for me too of both an absent mother and father, but it also brought a smile to my face to see how strong of a person you are. And I'm happy to read also that you guys gave it another go and things are going great! Good for you. I did love this piece...it was so well written! If you love something, set it free, if it comes back to you, its meant to be... |
