Silly String

Across the way you sit from me /
On a leather sofa /
In a buzzing room /
A sundance smile you send my way /
Through the crowds and haze /
And blue/grey doom
And memories float down to me /
Of lagoons and twilight and silly string /
An enchanting melody you play for me /
The unwritten song you'll never sing /
The music plays until the dawn /
A light show of dope /
And beer wizardry /
You get up and go and pass on by /
Right up the stairs /
'Til well past three /
And memories float down to me /

The gods have come and claimed your soul /
The blond girl sits /
Upon your lap /
I'll fall back into a crowd of faces /
A futile attempt /
To bridge the gap /
And far away from the blue/grey haze /
Of beer and dope /
Light show wizardry /
The moon will rise and fall /
Like my heart /
And upon my knees I'll weep for thee /
And memories float down to me /

Well, I don't like beer or dope ...
but I sure do like that ~Silly String~
Little cans of fun sprayed all over the room.

I visited your homepage ...
interesting stuff there.
Enjoyed the Crow's nest but my
favorite was Aristotle's Peepshow.
A lovely look at life through your poetry.

Thanks everyone. This poem was inspired after an interesting Halloween party at a friend's last year. I think it's one of my favourites. Thanks again for reading.
