You Picked Me Up You picked me up beside the road And taught my foot to step again And there was not another soul Who would have done the same In my very darkest hour With total strange surrounding me You pushed on through and rescued me And set my spirit free You held my hand when it was cold And led me through the pouring rain You made me look within my soul And gave me back my name You taught me how to live again You gave a purpose to my day You showed me truth in simple ways And taught me how to pray You held me up, you kept me warm You lent a shoulder for my tears You let me soar, you honored me And comforted my fears You kept my life on steady keel You understand the way I feel You tolerate my misgivings You taught the joy of living You found me there, alone, downtrod Thought abandoned by my God And then you gave me life somehow And loved me well from then til now And now you stand there right before me Holding back the loving tears And tell me that I've been your strength And comfort through the years Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 01-22-2000).] |

We all need that special 'picker-upper' in our lives. There is nothing more special than when it goes both ways. This is beautiful, Elizabeth! HUGS Denise |

I could just cry ... and I am. Elizabeth, my friend ... is it any wonder he loves you so. I'd say he's glad he 'found' you. What a beauty you are within your soul. When hearts speak freely with love ... it's because love is overflowing. Your heart overflows and pours onto the pages of my life. God, I'm so thankful for you. I am so pleased to see that you find the strength to continue sharing during this time. Our prayers are with you and Tony. Sunshine Look, then, into thine heart, and write ~~~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow |

Isn't it amazing how we draw strength from each other? This poem is so accurate. By giving strength we receive it and by receiving strength we give it.....as it should be. |

Elizabeth, as I sit and contemplate what you must be going through I realize how strong your love for this man is. A very glowing tribute to him. My thoughts and prayers are still with you and Tony. Love is a strange but wonderul thing and when we have it and are able to give it, it becomes something that no one can break. Poetry~ Words falling on paper, painting a dream. Shawna R.
