In the space between moments

0 posted 1999-12-29 12:00 PM

A lone owl takes wing
Upon the silken night
Cunning eyes watching
Chaos bleed below.

Sinister the feeling
Ravaging my soul
The sting of bitter cold
Streaming into me.

I am so alone

Eyes are midnight mirrors
Reflecting what I'll never be
Regrets seep within
As I crumble to dust.

Bitterness is tangible
Though sprinkled sweet
A melancholy blossom
Of breakable hopes.

I hear your thoughts

A darkened swan's song
Gently taken back
As sighs caress
My hidden pain.

I can feel you now

The fruit of my being
Quietly refreshed
As whispers waft
Within my fantasies.

If only I could touch you
To revive the spirit
And regain
All that I've lost.

Oh, forgive me love

I am not who I was
Only an empty shell
Of what I used to be
I am not worthy of you.

And yet you watch me
And soar within the sky
Upon a lone owl's wing
Like a savage angel.

I do not deserve you
And yet you are here
Sending your love
Upon threaded moonbeams.

I am not ever alone now.

Like a gust of wind, ne'er trapped in a snare,
Like a lotus blossom, ne'er sprinkled by water,
Let me, like a unicorn, in solitude roam.*~ Hymn Of Buddha

Lovely.  Today must be the day I think of memories I haven't thought about in such a while because of all the beautiful poems.  Very, truly, deeply beautiful.

Krista, you can't be as young as you are and write like this. You're really a 50 year old midget, right? Terrific poem.
