Why as women are we led to believe that to lean on someone is wrong holding within our minds the power that will make each of us so strong Because I know that there are times when I would give so much to let someone else take over and feel that comforting touch To know that you will lead me on a route that is best for me that loving you means I can follow a direction that I cannot see if I get lost and find myself in a place that I don't know again your love will tell me that trust continues to grow so now with candle in my hand I search through maps and guides but cannot find the comfort I know lies deep inside... Don't ask me where I'm going, just listen when I'm gone and far away you'll hear me singing softly to the dawn. |

Rainbowgirl: Good question... wish I had an answer. I think women have come a great way in gaining some equality (I still think its has a long way to go in our current society), but unfortunately they have had to give up certain things for it. Showing vulnerability in the need for someone else... perhaps is one. Your poem also made me think of these two social stigmas: woman can't read maps and men won't stop for directions. What a combo. |

This piece reminds me of Sylvia Plath an awful lot (the theme). Believe that the journey is yours to begin with only to be shared with that special someone who can open your eyes to new wonders along the way, and vice-versa. Very nicely written. Sonny |

Denise: Yep and it just has to be the 'right' someone.. HUGS Martie: I guess trust equals the hand..kind of blind faith.. HUGS Andrew: Well, I'm not much into being that independant, I prefer the closeness that allows for space to be yourself and yet you walk beside each other but whatever you do, never ask me for directions, you'll end up somewhere totally different, unless I've been there...only way I remember the points of the compass is Never Eat Shredded Wheat...LOL HUGS Don't ask me where I'm going, just listen when I'm gone and far away you'll hear me singing softly to the dawn. |

Everyone...men and women alike need someone to lean on at one time or another. You can lean on someone yet still stand alone. |

Hey Rainbow. I was pointed to this piece by a dear friend of mine. They told me that this sounds just like me. I just had to read it and find out how. Wow my friend. this discribes me to a T, I ask this question all the time and when I try to lean I seem to hit the ground. *shrug* That is life my friend...that is life. |

Leaning on someone is important to me. Usually it's my husband but I've found lots of people in here to lean on and call friend. If you need to lean on me go ahead. I can always add another friend. Love the poem!! Poetry~ Words falling on paper, painting a dream. Shawna R. Holder Boise, Idaho |

Trusting someone to support us when we're vulnerable... offering support when we're the one with strength... appreciating the whole of each other... Hard to find but worth the search! *S* Well done, RG. |

Instead of my usual way of saying thank you to each of you, I hope you'll understand a collective one...each of you in turn give so much, you make me smile, laugh and cry... As I read through your individual poems or maybe your comments if you're not writing...I can't seem to find the words to say what I'm thinking...hope that explains it, just that silence seems to be the best way for now.. ) HUGS all and thank you Don't ask me where I'm going, just listen when I'm gone and far away you'll hear me singing softly to the dawn. |

We do adapt ourselves, don't we? It feels like an eternity since I had a pillar to lean on...... I forget what it's like... |

I must have read a few times and never found the time to answer. Today I will. A very intriguing poem you set We all have been in this position, I bet The gender doesn't play a role Together is what counts as ultimate goal I know the feeling you refer The trues I wish it always were But there are creation that need control To give Love and shelter is not their final goal For those who are on the other end For those their live its all depend Why it would better be an independent Thought provoking poem of yours. Thank you The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools. |
