An intentional military stratedgy nearly annihilated a species,
Whose migration shook the plains like an earthquake.
And the resonance of their sheer numbers
Was thunder upon the land.

Hunters left in their wake,
A battlefield strewn with corpses;
Skinned and left to rot on the plains,
By the hundreds.

Pelts were sold in mass quantities.
Mountains of bones collected,
Trophy photos taken.
Aren't we the proud hunters?
Look what we've done!

But this strong spirit endured and survived!
I have gazed into the eyes of this gentle spirit,
And seen the power and majesty there.
And I have wept for the folly of the past,
And I have asked this spirit to forgive.

 Words are my medicine.
Read and live and love and heal!

Enotneicna-

And the rumbling of the hoofs
tells us that the great ~spirit~
of buffalo ... has returned to
show us the ways of forgiveness.

Thank you for a wonderful look
at a part of history told in your
gentle phrases.

The Spirit
lives and grows
and flows through
within and out of
every living thing
and seen mostly through
the eyes connected to
the heart where love grows
and begins its flow
and I love the buffalo.

Wonderful
and
WELCOME

Thank you all.
Sometimes when I write.......like when I wrote this piece, my soul feels ancient.  And when I read what I've written, I have to ask myself, "Did I write that?"
It all comes so effortlessly.
Thank you all again.

 Words are my medicine.
Read and live and love and heal!

Excellent imagery!!! Can hear the thunder of hooves, thousands strong, across the plains. Very well written. Welcome to Passions and will look for more of your work.
