I see this perfect family,
Laid out before my eyes,
And somehow unwillingly,
I take it by surprise.

That you seem so happy,
Like the smile I never knew,
I always told myself you missed me,
But I wonder was it true?

Looking into eyes,
That match my own so perfectly,
But the family here is not my own,
And it doesn’t seem quite fair to me.

These photographs are all that remains,
Of my father and his “life,”
I feel the tears inside me rise,
And close my eyes so tight.

As if to shut the image out,
It reflects to many memories,
That through the years I loved you so,
Still you built a life without me.

An image left on paper,
A man that’s laid to rest,
A father and an angel,
To whom I was a guest.

But not a cherished daughter,
At least the way I should have been,
Despite all the pain his memories have caused,
I will forever love him.

Dedicated to my Daddy, Gary Lynn White 1961-1993

Very sad poem, Amber. I'm sorry for your pain.

Amber this is sad. Any one can be a Dad but it takes someone special to be a father. I hope you look to those that have been there for you and loved you like their own. For those are special people that can do that. I know it don't make up for what you don't have, but maybe you are better off where you are!

Where there is GOD,
there is no need.

I know the picture hurt you inside, I felt it as well.  Just remember that no matter what, we were and always will be his only daughters. You are the beautuful image of our father, and even though he's gone, I see him in you every day. Love you, Sis

I have had a such a hard time dealing with this every since i was very young. It was like there was this mystery in him that i never knew and when he died i lost the cahnce to ever solve it, and even until now, it breaks my heart. Tanya i know that it hurt you to, its funny how even his image can still make me cry, i jsut wish i could have known him since every time any one sees me they see his image where i stand. But his image in my won mind i cant even really remember.

You have such talent in your writings as well...a gift.

There's so much I want to say, yet so much i don't.  I can relate to this, on a little different term.  But as long as you can get it out (which I found to be the best thing I can do) you are doing good!  *hugs* to you

Even though i have been here over six months now, the compassion i recieve from the people here still amazes me. It seems no matter how hard an issue is, I can offer it to you with no regrets and no critisism. No fear of not being accepted. I have shared so much of my soul with the people here, and i thank you all for your open arms and kind words!
