"A heart that once was made of stone"

I once felt a heart,
That made my soul cry,
A love so beautiful,
It could never die.

I once held a hand,
That broke down my walls,
Discouraged my ignorance,
Challenged my flaws.

I once heard a whisper,
That I thought was in vain,
Still it crept into my dreams,
Again and again.

I once gave a heart,
That collapsed underneath,
The lies and the pain,
That were handed to me.

I once wished away,
The pain in my soul,
To afraid to ask,
What I already know.

I once said goodbye,
To the sweetest pain,
That made me blind yet beautiful,
With only a name.

I once convinced myself,
That it was time to let go,
Of a fragrant desire,
That I let myself show.

I once touched a heart,
That made my soul cry,
The heart of stone that I feared,
Was no ones but mine.

You once forgot,
What pain you caused?
To my life and world,
Shattered and paused.

You once made me whole,
To my own dismay,
I loved you enough,
To ask you to stay.

A heart of stone,
Broken in two,
Owned by to lovers,
My love, me and you.

Heat melts away the thickest of ice.
a lot of love can warm up the coldest of hearts.
This is a wonderful poem!

Hey there sis, this is one of my favorites-HUN!!(know you hate that word ) I'm glad that you have forgiveness in your heart, I'm not sure that I could do it...But seeing that you're so happy now, I guess I forgive him too!

Open arms can be the most fragile in the world...

Very well written and such wise words
I wonder does love makes us wise?
And is this all part of life
Thank's amber
way cool

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

Amber: Sad thoughts here but I like the way you told your sister you love her..

Amber...what well written words expressing pain, fear and love. I wrote a poem of the same title for another poet here on the site a while back, I think it's very fitting here.

Heart Of Stone

She said she had a “heart of stone”
“Incapable of feeling”
But I saw just a heart of gold
Scarred and slowly healing

“Incapable of love,” she said
This wondrous caring soul
I simply saw a broken life
Struggling to be whole

“How could he take this all from me”
She says with teary eyes
A love once freely given
Now disabled by his lies

I look at her and I can see
My life not long ago
Before I learned to take a risk
And let my feelings show

A heart of stone? Oh maybe so
On this I’ll call her bluff
Her heart indeed it is a stone
A diamond in the rough

Amber, very well written and simply expressed. Am glad to know that love between sisters was not lost either. Very enjoyable read.
