(written to a friend of voice and heart and in rhyme for Liz) For David Because David sings a song for you, the melody’s catchy the meaning true. David sings of love and loss of a struggle that most men know, then he sings the sorrow of a woman’s tears and understands the cost. David sings a laugh or two his heart is in the words, then like grains of sand he sifts his notes ‘til you know he understands. David sings and hope and forgiving fall into his vase of words, then he pours them out with rhythm his guide and love of harmony inside. He sings of years of trying and the changes that must take place for steps that often walk away and times that make or break. David sings a melody of life and love and time, that repeats again when all is quiet within the listener’s mind. In the dew of little things, the heart finds its morning and is refreshed. Rhyme or no....your poems are always wonderful...this was a real treat, though! Denise And slight is the sting of his trouble Whose winnings are less than his worth; For he who is honest is noble, Whatever his fortunes or birth.~~~Alice Cary, ~Nobility~ |
