Darkened Silence Darkened Silence hear my calls. Release me from these binding walls That lock me within my own agony, And keep me there eternally. My pain is becoming too hard to bare. Life has never played my game fair. My jumbled emotions control my life. And then I glance down at the knife. It would be so easy to give up and die, But I cannot do it, I can only cry. So I let the knife drop to the floor, And I run out the kitchen door. I don’t know what I will do next Because my life is so complex. Now I call on you, Darkened Silence, my friend, Because for me, pain has no end. One touch of nature makes the whole world kin. -William Shakespeare |

First let me say, I'm glad you dropped that knife! Secondly, you have to find your own happiness, it usually doesn't come looking for you, so I say run out that kitchen door, and go find it! ![]() ![]() |

Angel Girl, I often write poetry for the sake of the poem and its message and find inspiration in great abundance, many times writing from perspectives other than my own. Naturally, as readers, we don't know what goes into the construction of a poet's work, but if this piece happens to be, indeed, indicative of your own struggle, then I commend your decision to drop the knife, whether it be literally or figuratively. Your strength shines through in this poem and you've done a splendid job of expressing it. ![]() Claire |

angel girl, How about concentrating just on you for the time being, that would make your life more simple, just doing what you want for yourself, studying, working, etc. The other "complexities" sometimes work themselves out, but should't be on your shoulders right now Lighten the load and things will become a little clearer The other things can be dealt with later Hugs Liz |

Angel Girl, Beautiful poem, yet very sad. I have been through things in my life that have led me to feel a very similar way sometimes - I know how scary and awful these feelings can be. What you need to remember is that things will improve, maybe not overnight, but eventually they will improve. I am glad you dropped the knife, be it real or metaphorical, because there is so much more to life - even if it doesn't seem that way. There will always be tough times but there will also be good times as well. I read a quote just the other day that I think may be of some help to you: " Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding." ~ Kahlil Gibran - The Prophet ~ Anytime you need to talk feel free to email me. |

I'm glad that you droped the knife because, it just ain't worth it. Besides God gave you life and it's a gift from him. He's the only one has the power to take one's life too. Love your poem. I think your poem would also fit well in the Dark Passions board too. Nathan |
