Daisy, my sweet darling Maltese poodle has a combination of kidney infection and kidney failure.  It depends on the percentage of both of the above as to her chances. The vet can cure the infection and stablise the failure if the infection is much greater than the failure.  I believe that the infection is far greater than the failure.  We have had some frightening setbacks, but overall, she is reacting well to her medicines, but needs to eat (and enough) as she is very weak.  She had started to eat, but after a very bad incident the night before last, I think she is afraid to eat.  We discovered the answer to that yesterday and I am giving her Purity (baby food) in a syringe and she is seeing that as a drink and not afraid of having it.

My wish is that she recovers, but I don't want my selfish wishes to get in the way of what is best for her, but I truly believe that she isn't ready to go to God, Heaven and Flicka yet and that she is going to be running around wagging her tail happily - perhaps not very soon, but in good time and that we will get there gradually day by day.

I have tremendous faith in God, miracles, prayer and Dr Swarts, a wonderful very caring, very knowledgeable vet, to whom many people travel many miles to bring their darling animals.

I would really appreciate the prayer circle of Pip to join in with their wonderful prayers to help strengthen my darling little Daisy and to heal her kidneys.

Thank you, my very dear friends, Alison, Stuart Little, Abby-xyz, Boodha Baby, Rowdy and Kaz.

I have told Daisy about the message mentioning you all by name.  That makes her very happy.  She (and Tigger, my kitty-boy) are hoping that you, Rowdy, are still well and that your ordeal is a thing of the past.

Meeows and cuddles to Stuart Little, Abby-xyz, Boodha Baby, Rowdy and Kaz, and hugs to Alison.

Dear Diana,
I can feel your pain in seeing sweet little Daisy coping with these kidney problems. I visualize Daisy reacting well and recovering well and of course my Zelda is informed and says her own cat prayers for friend Daisy.
May Universal Healing energy re-establish perfect harmony.

Love and hugs.

Diane,

I spent a great amount of time these last few days with a number of animals around me when my grandson brought them in for touching love.

You know as I know that our hairs our numbered. You know as I know that we love beyond condition those who cannot speak.

You know as I know that your beloved pets are in my prayers. While my grandson does is not registered on this site, I am going to send your request to him, because I believe in my heart that if a soul could help your request, his will.

Always, K

Thanks, Maureen.  The medicine seems to be helping, at least for the infection, hopefully for the kidney failure too.  We will see when the current course is over.

Thank you Helen.  Every single thought counts and helps.

Thank you Karilea, and please thank your grandson for me too.

Daisy is hanging in there and seems to be getting better, but is still very weak.  I am with her 24 hours a day.

The current temp job (the second at the same company) I have is creating a Microsoft Access database for the municipality, a client of the company I am doing it for, and I am doing it from home, in between Daisy's roster of things I need to do for her, and all the extra bits.

I would have given up any job that required me to be anywhere else, but fortunately it worked out this way, as Daisy, Tigger and I need the money.  However, I am nearly finished the database, so I hope the company will have another one for me to develop in the new year.  However, I am dubious about it, because the managing director would have told me by now, I think, if there was one he needs.

Thank you so much Linda for your warmth and kindness.  Daisy is so happy to receive such wonderful support from you and her other friends here on Pip.  She is rallying and was stronger yesterday.  I hope she will be even stronger today.  She has woken up and I am about to start her regimen for the day.

Oopsy!  I sent meeows to your dog/s!  I thought I remembered them all as being cats!  Oops!  I am getting myself into a worse mess!  Not that a dog better than being a cat at all, kitty-darlings!  Just that a cat is a cat is a cat and a dog is a dog is a dog.  Please tell me which are dogs, before I get myself into a worse mess, Alison and pleeeeeese apologise to your dogalogs (and your catalats) for me.

Daisy is doing much better today.  She is eating on her own (no longer with a syringe) and she stood up on all fours for 3 minutes without help.  With all these wonderful caring humans and catalats and dogalogs, it is no wonder.  She goes for a check up tomorrow.

Please don't forget to let me know which are the doggy-people.

Thanks, again Linda.

Thanks, Ruth, Kate and Colin.

Daisy and I really appreciate the caring concern.  Please forgive me if my replies don’t sound as though we do.  Daisy was doing really, really well this morning and then this afternoon she had a scary setback and I had to rush her to the vet for emergency injections.  She is over the setback but is very drowsy from the injections.  I hope it is just from the injections.

I hope the checkup tomorrow shows an improvement in her condition.

Woofs to Carley, meows to Kate and Colin, and hugs to Kit, Carley, Linda, Ruth, Kate and Colin

Diana,

I am so glad that Daisy is doing better.  We continue to think of her and send positive vibes her way.

I am attaching pictures -  the first is Abby-xyz and Stuart Little.  Stuart is the huskey-collie mix.  The next picture is of Kaz-cat.  Then Boodha-baby is next.  Finally is Rowdy-Roo - he and Booda are litter mates.  Rowdy is pretty much the alpha of the house.  He's quiet, but what he says usually goes!  Stuart thinks he is alpha male, but we just let him think that.

They send their love to Daisy.

Dear Alison, Abby-xyz, Stuart Little,  Kaz, Boodha and Rowdy, thank you for the photos.  You are all beautiful, darling sweethearts.

Daisy had a setback yesterday and I had to rush her to the vet for emergency injections.  I have slowed down on the feeding since and she is still very listless today.  She is at the vet now.  I left her there for 2½ hours for the vet to do the tests once he has finished seeing this morning's patients.

I am very nervous, but am expecting that the tests will show that she is no worse, or slightly better.

Once she is back, depending on what the vet says, I will put her back on to more feeding and expect her to be tired after the trip to the vet and back and the tests, but rallying a little and more tomorrow.  I am also praying very hard for her.  She is so precious.

Love, woofs and hugs to Abby-xyz and Stuart Little, love, meeows and hugs to Kaz, Boodha and Rowdy, and love and hugs to Alison

Oh, and very important, I forgot to say thank you to Abby-xyz, Stuart Little, Kaz, Boodha and Rowdy for sending your love to Daisy.  I will tell her on the way home from the vet.

Unfortunately she is blind and so won't be able to see your beautiful photos, but I will describe you all in such detail that she will know exactly what you all look like.

Thank you all, and Mommy, for your wonderful support of my darling little Daisy.

The update on Daisy is not good.

The kidney infection is cleared now, but the whatsit-count is very, very high which means that the kidney failure is advanced.  The soft mushy Pamper cat food that was picking her up so superbly yesterday may be too much for her digestive system.  However, it may also have been that she was well enough to be grooming herself and her winter coat is coming out (despite my grooming of her) and she got some hair in her mouth several times.  I fished it out whenever I could, but I may have missed a piece and it may have caused a temporary blockage because of her condition.  With the vet's approval, I am going to try to feed her a tiny bit of the mushy cat food tomorrow followed by Purity, and if she does OK on that, increase the mushy Pamper cat food, slightly every day and decrease the Purity baby food (which she had been on before, and she does OK on it, but it isn't enough to increase her strength enough).

She is not in any pain.  She is listless, weak and possibly nauseous some of the time, but has medicine for that.

I believe that we may be able to stabilise her kidneys for her to lead a happy life, and I am also praying powerpunch prayers for miracles.

Sending you love - lots of love,

Dear Diana,
How amazing that our precious dogs can so steal our hearts. We lost our black cocker at age sixteen almost six years ago. I cried like a baby. And we keep an adorable picture of her out in the living room still. I'm so sorry for you loss.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Oh, sweet Diana... I am so very sorry for your loss. I know how much it hurts and you've had far too much hurt to bear.

But while I'm sending hugs and love, I'm also sending thanks. You put Daisy's needs above your own and let her go as peacefully as you could. You released her from pain, even though it meant intensifying your own... and letting go when you have to is just as much a part of loving as holding close as long as there's hope.

Wrapping you in loving thoughts...

Thank you so very much Ruth and Denise for your heartfelt compassion and caring love.  It was so very hard to make that decision, despite my all-emcompassing love for Daisy.  It shattered my heart.

The only things that are keeping me going a stumbling step at a time are these loving, caring supportive messages and emails; the fact that Daisy is safe, healthy and happy with God and Flicka in Heaven; and that she left before me and so doesn't have to go through this devastating separation anguish.

Thank you Titia - and my deepest sympathy to you and your family for the passing into Heaven of your darlings, Tsjip and Sarah. What torture for you, only 6 months apart.  I am sure that Daisy has met up with Tsip and Sarah and that they are wonderful friends.

Yesterday, besides talking to her all the time anyway, I started saying "Goodnight Daisy darling.  Seepies tighties" at night and "Good morning Daisy darling" in the morning to her bed between my bed and my bedside table and it helps a little, relaxes my shoulders a bit.
