quote: Please pass along to my Passions buddies you know of that I may be absent for a bit until the fingers flex again enough to type. I am afraid if I get in to read I will not be able to reply except with smilies, and that hardly seems fair to people but I hate for them to think I’m not reading either just because I can’t type worth a darn.
I believe that all who know our Passionate poet is very much one of her "buddies" so I thought it best to put her note here.
Donna suffers from a visit of Mr. Arthur Itis...he is such a Pain! He comes at the most inconvenient moments, and beleaguers her so much at the worst possible times - especially with so many new poets coming in and making themselves known!
Gentle Spirit would love to be there for each and every one!
If you have a moment? Send a note...but please, let her know you won't expect a response right away, at least, not until her new eviction notices that are being served on Mr. Itis take effect.
Thank you!

yep, tell ol Arthur to take a hike! Donna, I hope you can soak the hands in epsom salts, and take aspirin? DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPLY AT THIS TIME. Just know, I understand and sympathize.

Having had a hole in my right wrist ligament (below the pinkie), I know well the feeling. Well, kinda. My fingers still worked, but everything from the wrist to the shoulder did not. It is amazing how many muscles, tendons, and ligaments flow from those two points. So southpaw typing became the norm for a bit, until I could situate myself so that my hands dangled from the wrists...no stress...which allowed typing for short bursts of time. Been over a year 1/2 now since the surgery which fixed it, pretty much an endoscopic dremel to smooth snaggled edges, and I'm so much better. Especially compared to those 14 months. Gentle Spirit, you take care now. Now need to cause more pain, just do what you can. I know even 2 fingered typing can be a chore. I do hope you can find some relief...have you tried heating creams or cod liver gelcaps (a much appreciated improvement over the liquid...don't taste the cod liver oil). Unfortuned, cod oil only helps with nerve/eye regeneration, and hair/skin growth. Won't do much for bone rubbing, though it might well help ligaments and tendons. Be sure to ask your doctor about pros and cons, and what else OTC may be out there.

Dear Donna, Cannot express in words how you will sorely be missed...as your love, inspiration and astute reading of our poems is understood upon leaving comments behind...your encouragement and steadfast kindness to others is sometimes overwhelming...bringing tears of greatfulness to the author's heart and work....you really do read the poems of others and absorb their true meaning, leaving comments of praise, greatfulness for the read and encouragement to the poet to continue....thank you, thank you for all your kind words and eyes...
May you heal quickly and may your spirit be filled with all the goodness you give to so many...
Luv and hugs... Lee J.

A note from Donna - typed by one of her friends...yes, her visitor is making it that bad for her just now... quote: I am going to have a restricted day of typing anything today at work. Will be tested again for all of the normal things, RA, gout, and anything else that can cause this type of pain and inflammation. Which means lots of paperwork, but minimal typing.
Applied ice to both hands last night across the backs of them and fingers. Some relief gained. Actually slept some last night.
Possible addition of meds. I will do as Alicat suggested, and speak with my doctor on those subjects. Long weekend coming up, will be doing lots of reading and little in the way of responding so if you see a smilie, just please know that I am here, if not in so many words, but most definately in spirit.
Darn, I miss the pages of blue. Peace and hugs.
Donna called me [she can still talk ] and reiterated her message - and especially to our Ali - who gave her some information that was new to her! Thank you, Ali!
I'm sure that once Mr. Art decides to take a hike and leave her alone for awhile, our Gentle Spirit will be back in here to thank you all personally. Your continued thoughts and prayers - and especially those suggestions as to whatever products or methods have worked for you folks in the past - are extremely appreciated!
Thank you all!

From one who loves to "noodle around" on piano and stringed instruments, our use of hands seems so matter of fact. I'd be devastated to have them impaired. Donna, you're a tough lady to endure such and a strong soul to share with such dignity. Best, KenThrough rubble and trouble and dark of night The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light

Kayjay said it best. During my episode, I had multiple dreams about losing my hand motion, since I'm very tactile. What took so long for me was not just my personal pride in having to ask for governmental help, but also extensive research in trying to find out what exactly was causing my severe pain, discomfort, and lack of mobility. And that's where we get it wrong, when we try to self diagnose something new to our systems. I finally caved, got state help, and saw a neurologist who did nerve response tests. And those suck! Basically an electrical charge to test nerve response, and when you hurt, it ain't no picnic. I realize I broke a slew of grammicatical rules with that one, and with the usage of slew, but oh well. I've developed a tolerance towards Nanner's wooden rulers. It took a Xray and MRI (which hurt like allfire...made my hand twitch, which made my nerves twitch, which made muscles twitch, which caused my torn ligament to twitch...weren't pretty) to deduce what was wrong, and how to fix it. Since I had 'waited' far too long, it took 3 months of physical therapy before my right hand grip equalled my left hand grip of 68 psi. At the start of PT, my right was at 9 psi.
Moral? Don't stall, don't wait, do what ya gotta do to make yerself right, or to find out what's wrong so you can make adjustments.

I pray Arthur moves out soon. He's no fun. Back in '96 when my RA flared, not only were my feet too painful to walk on, but my wrists and hands were so swollen and sore, I couldn't even pull my covers up, so I know first hand how Arthur works. My 16 year old grand-daughter slid into base scoring for her softball team a few weeks ago. Both hands were under her when she did, resulting in both thumbs being broken (one in 2 places). That put the kibosh on swimming, driving, etc. for the summer. Everyone teases her, "Thumbs up, Stephie!" She's such a good sport. Casts should come off just as school begins.
Hugs and healing prayers to you,
Rae

Heck, My Chiro is the reason I get to stay at my computer and bang away at what is just residing there in my head, waiting to get out!
And you know what?

Dar Donna: Sure sorry to hear about your arthritic problems. I have them in a minor way and imagine it is really bad for you, when you can't type. I do hope you are better soon. No need to reply, just want you to know I am thinking about you.

Gee, when I make coffee tomorrow, I'll pour you a cup if you'll come sit with me and sup.
Just be very careful with that HOT stuff when your hands are so bad. You don't need to get burned in addition and I know coffee just doesn't taste right through a straw unless it's iced coffee.

I just heard from Donna - she may not be updating us for a few days - she is not feeling well at all, so continue with the prayers...please.
She will be seeing her doctor again tomorrow, possibly more tests.
That note above? Was about as much as she could do.
Thank you.

Lauren, I have missed you too dear sis...
I wanted to stop in quickly and thank you all for your thoughts and emails. I appreciated the smiles very much!
The pain has finally alleviated somewhat and I am only experiencing minor stiffness at the moment. The blood work indicated nothing out of the ordinary and we added no medicines, but my doctor did double the dosage I was currently taking.
I apologize for not being back to Passions on a regular basis yet. I am working hard to get caught up at work now that my typing is getting back to normal. I am still not up to speed though, and have much to do. I will get into Pip ASAP, I miss reading the beautiful poetry so much. Gracias Mi Amigo's ~D~

Donna, I'm so sorry you've been going through this. I understand some of it, though it's more in my back and legs more often. The doctor took me off Celebrex because of my stomach problems and that's made my osteoarthritis and degenerative disc disease more painful. He prescribes stronger pain meds, but I DO NOT like those side effects!!
I hope your doctors find some program that will help you, Hon. When the old arthur brothers come around, it is difficult sometimes to find relief.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, Sweetie. Hugs,
