this is the live web-cam site for Mt St Helens http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/volcanocams/msh/ LOL, at 6:39AM there was a picture, but right now, nothing, though there is a huge fog/cloud bank that was visible in the earlier images..maybe it moved and now blankets the mountain from camera view it supposedly auto updates every 5 min Hope you can see it! |

Hey Kacy~ THANKS ... and when Mount St. Helens erupted on May 18, 1980, this link shows just one of the many photos of the event~ http://vulcan.wr.usgs.gov/Imgs/Gif/MSH/Images/may18.gif WOW !!! Interestingly enough, I have a bracelet and earrings made from the ash of the 1980 eruption ... just GORGEOUS deep teal/jade-ish looking stones made from re-heating the ash~ Thanks for keeping us on top (literally) of things, gal~ *Huglets* ![]() ~*Marge*~ ~*When the heart grieves over what it has lost, the spirit rejoices over what it has left. - Sufi epigram <))>< Email [email protected] |

Marge, wow, is right! I was able to get another photo from webcam that was taken AM Sept 28, from a link on the webcam page. The mountain is in the clouds today, as is most of the Pacific NW this morning. Any webcam shots from your area? Hmm? |

Midnitesun: Thank for this link. I will check it out. I have been watching the news clips about it. My daughter and family lived here in Coeur d'Alene, on May 18, 1980 and lived through the heavy ash fall-out. They were marooned in their house for three days. Even after coming out, they couldn't drive their cars without putting panty hose, or something of that nature over the intake on the engine. I came up shortly afterwards from Nevada and drove through heavy ash, for many miles after crossing into Oregon. The mountain was threatening again, all the two days I traveled and I was afraid I would get stranded somewhere. Now we live in Coeur d'Alene and are wondering what is going to happen. Hugs to you, Betty. I doubt any future St Helen's events will compare to the original blowout. But since the magma in the dome appears to be on the move again, I think everyone should err on the side of caution. Mother nature often kicks back with all the force of an angry mare. |

ROTFL. Yep. oops! as of now, it appears as if we are now at level 2 alert for this volcano, and level 3 means...eruption and, depending upon the prevailing winds, I just might be in the ashfall zone... all of a sudden I'm re-considering a few things the scariest for me? my daughter and the horse trainers are leaving Thurs to go to Auburn WA for the regional Dressage finals...gulp so I'm asking Helen to chill....flight patterns in and out of the NW will be changed if she blows again and on the ground...well, all you hurricane people know the edginess I'm feeling about now [This message has been edited by Midnitesun (09-29-2004 08:09 PM).] |

And there she blows... again and again. See? I think God must be getting tired of politics, too! |

Always fascinating, my mom caught some great footage of Etna from her visit to Sicily a few years ago. Speaking of which, looks like Etna is a little testy lately |
