**Do you ever feel like you cheated yourself with pain somewhere along the way in life? Like you let one situation change you forever into something brooding or depressed, and then at some point (while still holding on to that pain whether secretly or openly) made a decision that you might not have made had you not cheated yourself and given up on being truly happy? Has a decision like that ever popped up at the wrong time in your life and totally 'rocked the boat' so furiously that 'the boat' finally flipped over and you felt like you were drowning in the deep end of life? Perhaps a seperate question.. Anyone here...with a Christian point of view may offer thoughts on this next question as it is part of my curiousity. **If you have gone off a path that you once felt you were shown by God, should you live with it and make the best of it (having made a mistake that could not be fixed 'legally' (and by that I mean legally spiritually) in the eyes of God? |

interesting questions, well I used to brood on the fact that I was bullied as a kid, always felt like an outsider but I faced the pain and got over it. I am still a brooding person but I am happy. I never do anything that I will regret in the long term, I have done plently that I have regretted in the short term. I gave up worrying what God may think. THis quote sums it up pretty well. "If a young man is to get through puberty gracefully, he must first destroy his conscience" Anon. I think once you can sleep at night and have no major regrets then it is ok. If you do harm people just remember it comes around again. besides depending on which version of Bible teachings you believe we are either (A) damned from the start, (B) damned if we sin ( all sins are treated the same. (C) forgiven of our sins. "Build a man a fire, he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life". Terry Pratchett |

you have the power in you...every day, with every single choice you make to do good or bad, right or wrong. God gave us that choice...and with that freedom, he gave us the Bible....to show us the way...and yes, what Brian said.....you know your heart, so does God.....choose wisely, and when you fall down.....don't say oh well, I'm here now, may as well stay.....NO! Get up! Dust yourself off and try not to do it again....that's all any of us can do |

The two questions seem to be almost one in the same. My answers to them are almost identical. To the first question, yes I have been there and done that. But the reason why it happened that way was because of my own limited view on the situation. I have found that even when you think you have looked at a situation from every angle you think possible there is always another one you haven't thought of yet. As for the second question I will make a little illustration. God has set a path for you to walk but as you walk it you come to different crossroads. God shows you the one He wants you take but you choose a different one. As you walk down that path you come to another crossroad and with the various paths you can choose God has made a path that leads back to the path He had set before you in the beginning. This happens at every crossroad. Another way to put it is that when you make a mistake or a wrong or bad choice God will always provide a way out. And yet another way to put it is when you are falling away from God there is always a rope that you can reach to stop you from falling. All you need to do is look for it and grab ahold. I hope these answer your questions. The White Wolf If life is just a game, when does it end cause I want to get to what is real. |

Thank you everyone, for your comments. Irie, I'm sorry. I don't think I ever did e-mail you as I lost track of this thread. White Wolf, I think you have explained it more clearly. I agree, and I thank you. Still this is complicated for me. Someone said that God forgives. Does that mean if you take the wrong path, but then ask forgiveness eventually then it is okay (since it is supposed to be okay once you are forgiven)to stay on the current path? And what if you aren't truly happy on that current path? *sigh* I guess I'm still confused. Is it possible to be confused and still agree with White Wolf at the same time? LOL! My Dad is a pastor, and I suppose I could ask him, but it seems like when I talk about this subject with my family they get very worried. Then instead of answering my question in general, they ask all sorts of personal questions and want to know whats going on. They also start making declarations about my happiness with my life (those declarations being whether I seem to be truly happy) I know..I know..I love them for it. Family is, after all, one of the most precious gifts I have been given in my life. |

Question one, absolutely. I missed a wonderful golden opportunity because of a wrong decision, as I regret it still. God and I are not so sure of one another, I think, so no comments there. But it is a question I have pondered often. I have another question. I remember when I was a church going young woman, and they told me that if you think of doing the (sin) it is as bad actually doing it. This discouraged me so much I dropped out. What do you think of that? Does God hold it against you if you even want to do something you should not do? If so, how do you ever overcome that? |

When I went off the path I found myself in the forest. That's when I realized how interesting the world was.... Just be careful you don't eat the wrong mushrooms... Parker |
