Now I have lived in the Greater New Orleans area all of my life, so when people remark about our unique culture, I am sometimes surprised, as I have no other culture with which to compare. So tell me, my snow bunny friends, when the cold weather of winter hits your area, what is the general advisory from your local news? After listening to the noon broadcast today, I was prompted to some curiousity after hearing: "Take necessary precautions. Protect your plants, pets, and bring intoxicated people indoors." Hmmm. So I have to ask--in other areas, does the local weather advisory caution ya'll regarding the possibility of frozen drunks? Or izzat just more "Natuarlly N'awlins" ? |

My morning started out at 14 degrees...Farenheit... we are advised to not leave our animals outside... but I guess I would be worried about intoxicated people too... |

I always thought culling our herd of injudicious drunks was the only real purpose of winter. If that's no longer the case, shouldn't we just get rid of it? Winter, I mean. Getting rid of the drunks will likely prove much more difficult. |

They should have said 'homeless people'...drunks are too pickled to freeze to death. |

I just can't help myself. 'Twas an evening in November, which I clearly do remember, I was strolling down the street in drunken pride when my legs went all aflutter and I landed in the gutter and a pig came up and lay down by my side. So I lay there in the gutter thinking thoughts I could not utter when a lady passing by was heard to say, "You can tell a man who boozes by the company he chooses." And with that the pig got up and walked away. |

*snort* oooooooooooops! and I'm still shaking my head over "culling the herd..." I also poured my glass of wine down the sink after watching the six o'clock news. Seems that if you don't want to bring the intoxicated people into your own home, the city has kindly provided a place where you can just drop 'em off. I thought about it, and decided I'd like to sleep in my own bed. |

Well, where I live, the drunks are so naturally insulated by the intake of alcohol....we just leave them be. As for our pets, we always bring them indoors during the bitter cold. That's just in case we run out of alcohol to keep us naturally insulated. You've heard of a "three dog night'? Well we sometimes need the whole litter. Sort of like a "bow wow blanket." |

Well, one of the possible perks of bringing in the thoroughly sloshed is if you run out of alcohol yourself, you could easily wring some out of your guests. |

cover the plants - they're all dead. Bring in the pets, plug in the cars - but I've never heard about bringing the intoxicated people in |
