How many of you keep journals? I'm just wondering; I'm a huge fan of journal-keeping, and I was just wondering if I'm odd or normal *grin*

I keep one, but you read it, so I guess it isn't really a real journal..... more like a central broadcasting system.... lol Whatever.

I've tried, but the night or day after I write one entry, I tear it out, so why bother

Some years ago, when I was going through a distressing situation, I began keeping a journal. It helped me organize my thoughts. Soon, I began turning some of those written thoughts into poetry. I've been writing ever since.
I no longer keep a journal, as such, but I do keep writing.

OK, I'll never make a living at it, but it's a great catharsis.

I have one online, I find it more comfortable to type than to use a pen. It's pretty much open for the world to see, but I can keep entries private if I want. I change its layout every once in a while depending on my mood. Right now its very dark grey. I'm not feeling too happy.

Nope. So does that make you normal?

Every so often I'll start another version of a  journal, yet I never really seem to keep up with it. My journal is usually my writing. If you ever want to know what's going on in my so called life, then just check out my posts here... they wil;l tell you everything you ever wanted to know... and probably more than you wanted lol.

I keep several.  No particular reason...just one at work and one at home...then when I'm in neither place and have to write down a thought I write on a piece of paper.

I started one when I was in high school as an assignment by my english teacher.  I still have those spiral notebooks somewhere.  I like to go back to them every now and then...interesting reading.  But I really don't write everyday.

I think that maybe when you read my response, you'll realise that I'm the weird one!

I kind of keep a journal. I found that when I was having problems, keeping a journal would make it worse, because reading over what I had written kinda reinforced what had been going wrong, and didn't help at all.

So I recently reached a compromise on the whole journal-keeping idea. These days, I only write about the good stuff that's happened. That way, when I do have a bad day, I get my journal out, read about the good stuff that's been happening in my life, and it makes me realise that things aren't as bad as I first thought.

I always had journals that I kept poetry in, but not like a log of events and such. I went through a period where I kept up with one for quite a while. Then I stopped.

I now have an online journal that is used more so to keep track of a close friend of mine. She reads my entries.. I read hers.. it works out nicely. I do use it as a means of expression though.

I have a sketchbook, which I think could count as a journal considering I only sketch ideas for paintings and my ideas come from my experiences.

I'm following you lizzzzzzzzzz muahahahahahahaha

I keep journals. read an old one, they make you feel physically sick in their geekiness. without fail, i cringe at some of the things i wrote about. My friend got hers out the other day, and we nearly wet ourselves laughing. Classic quotes like " I kissed a boy today, i think he will be my boyfriend, though he does have a big mouth and is a big show off. " ah the joys of being 11.

Instant karma's gonna get you.

I was just wondering could anybody suggest a way to really start writing a journal? I did have one for like 2 months but then I just lost interest... so yeah any advice on how to keep the spark between you and your journal?
