Hello

Just me, away. LoL.

I wanted to start a thread about music, seeing as how much a part of my life it is. Music is a huge passion of mine. One of my favorite pastimes is either buying CD's, or listening to them. I'm learning the bass at the moment. Yeah for me. I could go on... but I wont.

My point being... what kind of music do you enjoy? I love anything from Frank Sinatra to Joe Satrini, German techo to Enya, Saliva to P.O.D., DMX to Steven Curtis Chapman. Linkin Park, Satriani and Sinatra are my favorites. Now.... it's your turn?

Sincerely,
Titus

I have two playlists on WinAmp that I use while online.

Easy Listening:  Anything mellow or eerie, such as Vangelis, Pink Floyd, Philip Glass, Faith and the Muse, Christine Fellows, Jewel, Bjork.

Uneasy Listening:  Any industrial/ebm/metal music that's really loud and fun when my parents have company... featuring :wumpscut:, Haujobb, Front Line Assembly, Flesh Field, Das Ich, In Flames, Rammstein, Cat Rapes Dog.

I love music.  I'd have to say my favourite artist overall is :wumpscut:, and Bjork is my favourite female vocalist.

That's just how it is.

I have a number of favorite artists, Shakira being at the top of the list. My husband thinks she's the hottest thing he's ever seen LOL! I also like Queensryche(sp?) and Keith Urban, Shania Twain, Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band, Gary Allen, Pink Floyd, Big Tent Revival, Uncle Kracker, Neil Young. There are LOTS more but probably wouldn't have enough room to put them all here.

Mostly my music is either extremely heavy, goth, metal, industrial etc OR it's classical like Beethoven, Mozart etc. They compliment eachother as strange as that may sound.

Pink Floyd is easy listening? I'd hardly call them that.

I do love Pink Floyd, primarily The Wall and Wish You Were Here, and Dark Side of the Moon and The Final Cut to lesser degrees, with additional songs here and there (Interstellar Overdrive, for one.) Their complexity and ingenuity never ceases to amaze me.

Ani DiFranco is awesome... I have never heard another artist/band with lyrical content that can (consistently) challenge hers, and that whole girl and her guitar vibe really pulls me in, too.

Other female singer/songwriters: Alanis Morisette, Jewel, Sheryl Crow (yeah, the staples) Aimee Mann, Nicole Blackman, Jill Sobule, Tori Amos...

Other bands: Smashing Pumpkins, The Doors, Nirvana, Blink 182 (thanks to my boyfriend), The Countintg Crows (also thanks to him), NIN (less now than in past years), Cranberries, Fuel, Green Day, Chicago...

I've been listening to Weezer over and over again lately.  That and Stabbing Westward, Pearl Jam, this one song by Cold and Alice in Chains...
Someone out there has to agree, ...that Incubus is one of the most talented of bands out there today... their music ...fills me up ... as one might say...
oh and I've been listening to The Doors, Live, K's Choice, Soundgarden, Tool, Snot, rare and not so rare Nirvana songs, Fiona Apple( yeah thats right), and a little Jimi Hendrix... until I have more that is...

Hey I find it interesting that many poets have wide and varied music tastes. Do you all think we have such eclectic tastes because we are artistic? I know I'm not only a poet, but an artists, and music lover, theater fan, etc etc. I know about the left/right sides of the brain, and I think it's no coinsidence. You? Me =

I think you could call my music tastes eclectic.. LOL, I love Alanis Morisette, Jewel, Iron Maiden, Queensryche and Dream Theater. Pink Floyd is my all time favorite band... but now Michael Hedges is sneaking up on that title.. Some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard.. too bad he was taken so untimely... Also I love Patty Larkin, she can do it all, from funky to sad ballad...

Pink Floyd = easy listening?... (scratches head)

Well, they're an easy choice for favorite for me anyway.  The depth of, and the genious behind, their music lies unmatched.

My music tastes, though, seem to be without limit.  Everything from alternative rock, (Live) to Old Country and Western, (Johnny Cash), to New Age, (Vanessa Mae), just to give a few examples.

So long as the musice has substance, in this I mean my 12 year old son couldn't reproduce and exacting replica with a set of old pots and an outdated tape recorder; and whomever it might be playing guitar KNOWS more than one chord, assuming guitar is present, I am open to most any type of music.

Great thread!

Now that my finances are a little more stable, I can actually afford to buy new CDs. My most recent purchases have been Delta Goodrem's "Innocent Eyes" and Matchbox 20's "More Than You Think You Are". I also have a few CDs that I'm not going to own up to, for fear of public ridicule... but I really like the songs! I have Shania, Shakira, Enrique Iglesias, the soundtrack from Moulin Rouge, Ronan Keating, the soundtrack from Lord of the Dance, Metallica, Eminem. Just heaps of different stuff. As for do I play an instrument... I can play a piano very very badly. Does that count??
