Okay, is there anyone out there that has a male cat?

I love mine very, very much.  His name is Dax, and he is 8 months old.

For the past month ohh how shall I put this, he stinks!!  I change his litter ALL the time.  And everytime he uses the bathroom it stinks up the WHOLE house!!  He will be fixed on Dec. 11th.

My question is will that solve the strong oder?

Okay, I know this is a odd question, and I have no idea why I posted something this lame, but I am at my wits end.

I love and adore my cat, I don't ever want to get rid of him, but I am a super clean freak, and I think he is starting to spray too!

Any advice from any cat people out there?

I love my kitties too. Nothing gives me more pleasure than to just gaze upon their feline beauty--OUTSIDE.

I finally had to give up. I was becoming a zookeeper. Try keeping two dogs two cats two kids and a George in a house. That's when I went crazy yanno.

Fixing him will get rid of the spraying problem, if I'm not mistaken. Don't take my word as correct though, cause I didn't ever really pay attention to when Mom got our cats fixed :/

My cats pee on all of the furnature. We can't put them outside because they are 11-year old, fat and declawed persians. So my mom piles chairs and tables on all of our furnature to keep them off.

If you want to sit on our couch, you will have to remove layers of plastic and our coffe table. Our male cat sleeps in my bathtub, and I have to clean it every time I want a bath. They can open doors somehow and sneak out even though they aren't supposed to. Basically? Our cats walk all over us (literaly)

His little operation should take care of the awful stench... but if he's acquired the habit of spraying furniture, it may be hard to stop him. The best tool I've found for cat training is a water bottle or squirt gun... it's harmless and effective. Mine stop their misbehaving if they even THINK they might get wet. *G* Granted, with two cats, if I don't see the sin, I don't know who's the culprit... but it might help? *S*

I thought about letting him outside, but in my neighborhood there is a fine if anyone has a cat left out, this was put in affect a year ago because so many people have left their cats to roam free, there is about 20 roaming around the neighborhood! I wish i lived in the country where he can have freedom of the outdoors.

Thanks for your advice as well, so far he has not sprayed the sofa or anything else. That I know of. hahaha. As soon as he does I'm stocking up in plastic slip covers!

I hope the smell does die down after he is fixed. We did buy two squirt guns, and he does hate them. We bought them because he would come upstairs about 2,3,4 in the morning and cry outside our doors for hours on end. I would let him in my room but he won't sleep he just finds the one piece of paper in the corner of the closet and bats that for hours. However, even though I bought the squirt guns he still won't listen. Oh well, as long as the smell goes away I am happy.

We had our cats immediately fixed and we've never had a problem with spraying. I'm sure that he'll behave himself after you get him fixed. Don't take my word as law though - I'm just telling you what I have experience with.

it should correct the problem, but it doesn't always work that way.

some cats just don't stop spraying.

it could also be a behavioural problem stemming from something that upsets the cat.

they are very temperment animals. but you've gotta love em.
