Hush of dawn rests like benediction
over silent grandeur of towering mountains;
Flushed sky brightens into fiery eruption.

Violent paroxysm portends destruction;
Dark cloud descends as blackest night
as earth is rent in Hell's retribution.

Tongues of flame from Styx's explosion
Bring forth streams of fire as ocean's tide,
Flow over land to life's expulsion.

Five thousand souls in conflagration,
Euphemia sinks into earth's bosom,
Swallowed whole, annihilation.

Clouds of dust obscure forgotten foundation,
Remnants of immemorial existence,
Melancholy ruins of desolation.

Over-wordy.

That's my first reaction.
