               Paintbrush

Each stroke fills in an empty space
And leaves a beam of light
In that dark and secret hiding place
Of sad and lonely night

Your heart has opened once again
Despite its frozen lock
My paintbrush slips between the cracks
And quietly I knock

I bring you colors bright and new
And some you saw before
I hope to slightly change the hue
So you will need no more.

What lies behind us and what lies before us are but tiny matters compared to what lies within us

              Ralph Waldo Emerson
