A mass of land between two oceans

“Sophia”

Between us there is endless
Trinity
as if the human didn’t come in enough places
Sophia is the caked sweetness encircling
the chasm of human history

There we were, floating,
along with so many telluric currents
my head swam in dazzling reflections
upon the river

I pressed my forehead to the stars
subordinating the heavenly bodies to my
subjection

the true Cancer, I twisted the claws
toward the Great Pyramids and  Tomar
and the Atlantean roots,
mysteries encircled by all that is Sophia

If only for Sophia
I become Foucault’s Pendulum,
entirely static except for my one attachment
I build the church around the life
I wish to serve
eudaimonia

"I should have been a pair of ragged claws/ Scuttling over the floors of silent seas"-T.S. Eliot
