Who is your god?
Is he my god?
Does he have the same name as mine?
Does your religion have the same name as mine?

Do you worship in the same place as me?
Do you praise him in the same way as me?
Do you follow the same principles as me?
Do you name your priests like me?

Have you read my bible lately?
Have your seen the same light as me?
Do you call your holy scriptures a bible?
Or something else like the Torah or Quran?

Where do you get the idea that its right to fight?
Show me the passage in your scriptures.
Reveal it to my sight.
Get rid of the middleman between you and your god.
You don't need him.

All a middle man does is lie.
Blame you for the world's mistakes.
And make you cry.
All the middlemen are is fakes.

Middlemen say that it's Woman's fault
for Man being kicked from the garden.
I say it's bull encompassed by furor.
Eve was naive, now it's all women's fault?

Ignorance is bliss isn't it?
Let the middlemen muddle your minds.
I won't let them anymore.
It's my life, not yours.
Serving god, not them.

Don't repeat past mistakes.
Stop listening to the fakes.
Organized religion I'll admit,
is a comfort I'll not forget.

All my life I was told,
till I was 19 years old,
that to speak to god,
I needed to speak with a pastor or preacher.

Now I have come unto my own,
God is my own.
I love him more now.
He is my guardian now.

I trust him more than a pastor.
Love him more than his son.
Listen when he speaks to me,
through that little voice in my head.

It tells me right from wrong,
Truth from lie, life from death,
Righteous and just from Unjust and lust.
Love from hate, Good from bad.

I love my god,
Do you love yours?
If you love him why do you fight?
You know god will never order you to kill.

There are 10 commandments
As long as we follow them
god will protect and honor us
love and respect us.

Jesus was my saviour,
Who was yours?
Who gave his life
to save yours?

If you follow the Quran,
you believe in jesus.
If you follow the Torah,
birth religion of Jesus,

You deny the son of god.
Do you know why?
Probably not.

Do I hate you for it?
Certainly not.
Do I love you in spite of it?
I most certainly do.

What can I say,
I love all of god's children,
as he loves us.

The golden rule be my guide
and the commandments be my oath.
I love every man, woman, child and beast.
I hope beyond hope they return it.

(big hugggssssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all call Him different names, have different doctrines and notions, but one thing many in the world have in common is that we believe in a Holy Spirit and we must center our lives around His or Her teachings! (sigh) This is precious, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Hmm, it's pretty rude to bump, and I think Ron has a debumping feature anyway? Your new here, so you might not know that it's considered poor ettiquette (sp?) to reply to your own poem repeatedly and push it to the top.

Anyway, I don't think Eve was naive... supposing the legend is true, I own my ability to reason and wrestle with morality to her. Eve was pretty damn smart if you ask me.

Anyway, I think your sentiment ehre is good, but your poem is drawn out and could use some more poetic devices. As is, its more of a cathartic release than anything else.

(BTW, the bit about jews denying Christ, even if you believe it to be true, might be just a tad bit out of place in a poem about religious acceptance.)

Hopt I've helped.

Heh, nice poem. Truly I do believe that everyone in their deepest hearts believes in God that they may deny until the moment there life is threatened. It's human nature to turn to God in a situation of life and death. But in any case, it was lovely poem. Very well written. Definitely feels like a peace offering from a peaceful Christian to all other faiths such s mine and it's a very exquisite poem^^

It's difficult it seems to write a religious poem that carries such a message of widespread geniality with any originality.

At any rate a few points I have to contest:

'You know god will never order you to kill.'

Read the Old Testament. You'll find out that that isn't exactly true.

'There are 10 commandments
As long as we follow them
god will protect and honor us
love and respect us.'

I'm assuming you are a Christian. The christian faith is based around just that - faith and grace. While the 10 commandments provide a moral guide from which christians are supposed to navigate their lives, the 10 commandments are part of the Law - from the old testament - which the blood of Christ has replaced in terms of the way in which a person is saved, if you will. Apparently, according to the christian faith, God loves and respects you no matter what you do - grace is the proof of that.

I think if you are going to write a poem such as this - one in which you inform people about how they should live their lives, and what they should be grateful for - you might try for technical accuracy at least.

Research is a good thing.

Scarlet Oath - you said: 'It's human nature to turn to God in a situation of life and death.'

You know, it's just as possible that in a situation of life and death human's turn toward a social construct that they feel might be able to save them. Reaching out to a God is not proof that that God exists I'm afraid.
