shadows of twilight overlay
last lingering rays of daylight,
fireflies flicker in the short grass;
on a bench in a park,
she sits alone watching them,
their golden glimmers inviting union.
unclasping her hair,
she lets it fall around her shoulders,
closes her eyes for just a moment...

opening them, she sees him on the sidewalk;
in profile, he does not see her,
yet she sees all sides of him,
feeling the last time they were together;
meeting after the break-up,
her hand extended; mouthing, "friends?",
he'd stood, taken her in his arms,
embraced her gently yet firmly,
run his fingers through her hair,
gave her a short, soft kiss...

she'd run to her car,
legs quivering, belly aflutter,
no one before nor after had done that to her.

now again, she feels it,
Dido's haunting song runs through her head,
"and when we meet, as I'm sure we will,
all that was there will be there still"

he walks quickly towards a girl approaching,
grabs her hand...they walk away.

"it's been two years", she tells the tears
welling in her eyes,
the song is still running...

"I'm in love, and always will be."

I think this is a beautiful piece. Striking & sad. Well done.

Thank you very much. I love Dido's song, and wrote a scenario around it. I'm glad it worked.
