Within a Stone’s Throw Lies a once lively garden Within a stone’s throw, Chipper chipmunks chase gaily Over ground where weeds grow, While the wild onion wind wakes The molding windrow. Tired tools of the harvest In rusty sleep lie, At the fence that kept cattle In the meadow nearby, While the gate gapes wide open Having long said goodbye. Under shade of sugar maple Where the salvias grow, Lie the farmer and family Who, many years ago, Raised the home barely standing Within a stone’s throw. Sherry Bivin 4/05 |

While the gate gapes wide open Having long said goodbye. The imagrey and msg was just so powerful in this couplet. I'm not much of a garden person or all that, but I can see this was very well thought out. Your standard poem with great vocab. A well written peice. |

I love how you use your title as a recurring line throughout the poem |
