Good Ku! Like the touch of "flies" in the last line. Corinne |

What a beautiful haiku! One of my favorite types of poetry yet hard for me at times. Hope to see more! |

Just a few adjustments: Cloud-filtered full moon blackens treeline's Silhouette sparkled with fireflies . Silhouette should have a capital as it is a man's name (Étienne de Silhouette) Enjoyed. [This message has been edited by Essorant (06-12-2004 10:27 PM).] |

I was using it in the sense of the word derived from the man. Main Entry: 1sil·hou·ette Pronunciation: "si-l&-'wet Function: noun Etymology: French, from Étienne de Silhouette died 1767 French controller general of finances; perhaps from his ephemeral tenure 1 : a likeness cut from dark material and mounted on a light ground or one sketched in outline and solidly colored in 2 : the outline of a body viewed as circumscribing a mass |

Merriam-Webster's doesn't capitalize it except in reference to his name. So, using it in a poem or a sentence, one would not capitalize it (unless one was referencing the French controller by name). That doesn't mean it is right! It also spells Sandwich without a capital. They must have freeversers compiling dictionaries these days [This message has been edited by Essorant (06-14-2004 08:03 PM).] |
