The Bear Facts

Night sounds drifting
through the open window
Rolling over next to you
to escape the chill air
I see him
peeking over your shoulder
One little paw
resting protectively
Two shiny button eyes
gaze back at me
through fuzzy brown fur
Telling me playfully
“I was here first”
Defeated, I have to smile
then chuckle
as I wrap my loving arms
around both of you
