Breath Of Spring

Wispy patterns of white
in a clear blue sky;
Black dots in the distance
as the morning breeze
carries the faint sound
of faraway calls;
Birds returning home.

Spring has arrived
in all it's colorful splendor.
Once brown fields
now blaze with reds, blues
and pastel yellows;
Long dormant flowers
bursting forth in brilliant color
from the wind swept
carpet of green.

Gone is the cold embrace
of the chill north wind
and snow covered sidewalks;
Yet leaving behind
glazed fogged windows
and frosty porch steps;
Almost as if to say,
"Something to remember me by."

The now familiar smell
of heady woodsmoke
fades with the gray days;
Giving way to pristine skies
and the wonderful essence
of freshly cut grass
and honeysuckle sweet.

And every bright morning
awakens with the call
of the Swift and the Swallow.

I could feel the season changing as I read.  It felt so sweet as it caressed my cheek.  Another excellent piece of work Gary.< !signature-->
