When I look into my mirror I see you mother All your faults In bold letters Those faults I claimed I would never have. They stare at me In glaring letters! Is this the punishment I get for all your faults I pointed out to you So freely, when I was young. Or, perhaps I can blame It on genetics. You never offered an excuse You just took my big mouth blabber Of my teenage years. It's so puzzling now to me For all your faults I claimed I would never have Time and life Have engraved them on my mirror I was so naive to think I was nearly always Making right turns And now I have woken up to find I have come full circle, When your face is the One I see in my mirror. |

We thought we were so wise when we were young, didn't we? I, too, see traits of my parents in me, the good and not so good. I relish both as they are my connnection with them even though they are both gone now. Life is a circle, that's true! Great poem, Septsong! Denise |

This is excellent Septsong! The saying "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" is truer than most would like to admit. I see the same thing (my mom) when I look in the mirror. The kicker is that I see me in my children and them in my grandaughter!! Enjoyed this very much!! ...Give me the strength to walk the soft earth, a relative to all that is.... This reminds me of a time long ago, 1952 to be exact, I had come back from Korea, my Dad and I were riding our horses, I talked to him and could not believe how smart he had gotten in just a year,,this is very nice...bill |
