throngs of people
inundating the altar
fighting for a view.

And the ten were brought forth
under heavy guards
First,
were The Seven,
the seven deadly ones
who ruined many
with their sunful ways.
Then came Possessions,
she had wealth and power
but all for naught
on the altar
Then came People
with his opinions
and prejudices
and biases
And finally was Self
melancholy and silent.

And all were brought before the masses
and placed on the altar.

And the fire
licked them
tickled them
sanctified them
and finally
killed them.

And the throngs shouted
to see them go
and all left happily-
ready to start anew

Great job! This is really a poem that makes you stop and think about the words written . . . unlike mine, which just blurt forth everything

I agree with the others, this is a little deep but it does send a messege, I think I got it, we are a wanton careless people who look only inward, at least thats what I got out of it. Very thought provoking..bill
