Upon some alpine mountain peak, Where no man's stepped, no voices speak With words intrusive on the air. No laughter makes an echo there. Nor will they in this unscaled place, Where only wind across the face Of snowy ridges, creates sound And raises ice spume all around And chances are nobody will, In eons coming, have the skill To navigate this frozen tor. It will be forevermore, A place apart, where shadows brood And no words break the solitude! Awesome right. I really felt this cold place. I foudn the following lines wonderfully powerful. A place apart, where shadows brood And no words break the solitude! Ronil (One becomes god only when they have fully understood the role of being a human being.) |

BettyLou~ I felt the chill of this one ~ 'Where only wind across the face Of snowy ridges, creates sound And raises ice spume all around' How picturesque ! ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

Very good! Some mountain peaks were meant to be a forever place of solitude. Great lines! Deb |

Xeonox: Thank you! I haven't really been to a mountain top like the one I wrote about, but once I was at the top of McKenzie Pass in Oregon, in the lava fields, in winter, with a full moon, and I have never forgotten the experience. I drew on that for this poem. Betty Lou Hebert |
