The universe is vast and strange. Each day the systems rearrange The order of the asteroids, That plummet off into the voids. The planetary storms arise And comets dazzle human eyes And every giant, solar flare, Disturbs the waves within the air, That we use to communicate. Most really can't appreciate The concepts of unending space. It is a mystery to our race. Out there, where super stars are born And black holes gape, where moons are torn From out there set trajectory, Is there a place for you and me? Where massive clouds of gas appear, To float around the atmosphere And man now has a station there, Where nations come so they may share Discoveries, amazing news And scientific facts to use, In settling the new frontier And live in space, with naught to fear. I guess I'll never see that day. But all my great-grandchildren may!
