          Stillness

The stillness of the night captures me
enfolds, enwraps me with it's amity
lures, woos, entices me to the dark.
Must be a reminder, i muse
of womb safe, cellblock dark
hidey holes we humans desire.

Anonymous seeking, familiar shadows
eerie amplified around two or three am
movement the enemy, still in the dark.
Easy to see why favorite of the criminal
ease of hide, deed and get away dark

Downing beers round the elm tree
not seeing what happened behind
"well Officer, it was backside dark."
Profile:...large and dangerous
security securing, rousting the dark
steps echo like some ancient antiphon.

How quickly one degenerates
that pack mentality next in line
preying on other creatures of the dark.
It makes perfect sense that the lord
of this dark is indeed himself dark.
the stillness of the night swallows me.

Interesting well done poem.  I am a creature of the light, so I don't see the call of the dark or the pack mentality there-in but it makes good sense.  Joyce

This is not a world I am familiar with, but I found the poem intriguing.

Naturally, I love the night, and packs, and darkness.
But that aside, this is very well done.
I enjoyed it.
Thanks.
