Dear friend, I wonder where you are? I never dreamed we'd drift so far, We wouldn't even keep in touch. I miss your letters very much. My efforts show, "address unknown" And you no longer have a phone. At least no number can I find In that small town I left behind. You were my childhood friend and I Let too much time and life go by. Before I realized the lack Your absence makes. I want you back! For no one else can understand. Our teen-age years, like grains of sand, Rushed through the hourglass too fast And suddenly, our time was past. My life in crisis, I withdrew From all the people that we knew. I moved a countryside away And I would give a lot today, If I could see you just once more, To remenisce, perhaps explore The missing years and find that we Are still the friends we used to be. Oh, Betty, I hope you find your friend. It is easy to lose track. But your poetry has brought you many new ones. Love, Joyce |

BettyLou~ I just loved this reminisce of friendship ... 'Our teen-age years, like grains of sand, Rushed through the hourglass too fast' Wonderful metaphorical reference. Greatly enjoyed. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

Dear Joyce: Thanks. I'm afraid too many years have come between my teen-age friend and me. Canada is a big country! You're right though, about new friends. I always enjoy those. Betty Lou Hebert |

Dear Marge: Thank you for taking time to comment on this poem. I have been kicking myself for not catching the misspelled "reminisce". Don't know how I missed that! Betty Lou Hebert |

Very nice Trillium...I enjoyed this. A few years back, I looked up an old buddy I hadn't seen since high school. We spent an afternoon together and what an experience that was. It was as if all those years we had been friends came flying back at us in just a few short hours. At one point we were laughing so hard tears started streaming down our faces and today I'm not sure if they were tears of joy or tears from regret that those times were gone. If there is anyway you can find your friend....do it!!! It will be well worth your effort. Mike |

Mike: Thank you for your comments and description of finding an old friend. It must have been a great experience for both of you. Unfortunately, the friend I wrote about lives somewhere in Canada and we haven't had any contact since I was in my teens. I have gone back to see relatives in Alberta several times and tried to find her but it's always a dead end. Who knows......maybe she'll read the poem? Betty Lou Hebert |

Well written... mm, I don't know, but somehow the lines "Before I realized the lack Your absence makes. I want you back!" Don't quite sound right to me.. the word 'lack', I think it is.. coz an absence can't make a lack.. well, but u have a licence, heh, so I'll let you off just this once.. *_^ I like it.. Yeah I have a friend I'm looking for too, from primary school.. I'm not sure I would even recognise her now.. I have a photo, and so many memories, we were really good friends, but we were 6.. ^^ she left for a different town, and I didn't have a number, address or anything.. so she could be anywhere in the world by now.. :{ Luv, Lynne PS Good luck in your searching.. and I hope maybe she does read your poem..
