She goes there everyday To see the wonderful world Dwindling away their hours In a sea of blistered walls She has a spark Her eyes as bright as the sun Thinking she has a purpose Wanting to prove herself But they straighten her out They tell her who's boss She knows she makes no rules Their words are gold Now she is very tired Her figure is hunched over Glistening eyes somehow vacant Her smile a distant memory In her world there is no perfect The song is not so sweet The vultures fly in a circle A distant song is heard The melody a tale of happiness Of making a place in this world Succeeding where most have failed Walking in the forbiddon zone No, it is not worth it Her ears tune out the song Life is not that way Only they have a world So she sits at her lonely desk Counting away the hours Wondering when it will be Time to go home I mean the opposite of what I say. You've got it now? No, it's the other way. ~Bruce Bennett |

Corporate America. Don't ya just love it? "The smell of (placated productivity) in the morning. I love it. It smells like victory." Or was that napalm????? You don't work for the Postal Service, do ya? he he, just kidding Very good read, Wikket. Been in Machiavelli's world for 27 years now, it only gets more absurd. I hear ya. Thanks. You hooked me on this one, Wikket! Wasn't quite sure where it was heading... Makes one ponder 'the good old days'....at least everyone knew where they belonged! Enjoyed! Lary |

coyote: hehehe Don't I know it! You ever just had one of those days where you want to just go home. Whoops! That's everyday for me! Thanks for your comment! P.S. No I don't work for the Post Office, but it is a government job... laryalee: So true, so true. Seems all we have now is more to whine about and more to do. I thought technology was supposed to make things easier!!! *rofl* Thanks for taking the time to comment! Joyce: No kidding! I am just waiting for the day when I get to be a casual CIVILIAN student again! Thanks for your comment! ~~Jamie I mean the opposite of what I say. You've got it now? Hi, Jamie! Boy can I identify with this! I suppose most of us can. Fortunately, there are some days that are pretty good, too. Hope you have one soon. To love another person is to see the face of God. |

faterider: Thank you for taking the time to comment on this one. I keep dreaming about that someday, when I can have the job I would like! But I guess this dream is not possible due to the fact that it will still be work! Thanks again! ~~Jamie "There are no unlockable doors |

Aye, Wikket. Words of wisdom for sure. "Work is the curse of the drinking classes". And even those who don't indulge are cursed nonetheless. "I know that I am like the rain. There but for the grace of you go I." Paul Simon-Kathy's Song [This message has been edited by coyote (edited 04-20-2001).] |

Nicely done here. I enjoyed the poem. I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. |
