Do you think I have forgotten
After all these many years?
And for me things have been easy,
Since that first big flood of tears?

I thought the day we said those vows,
I'd be with you for my life.
I know you thought the very same,
When you took me for your wife.

The years we had were joyous,
Until you left so soon.
For you the day had ended.
For me it was only noon.

I've grieved because you've missed so much,
Our three children as they grew,
And those wonderful grandchildren,
Not privileged to know you.

Thre have been so very many things,
I could share with you alone,
But you also missed the sadness
And the sorrows I have known.

Your children all are older now,
Than you were when you left.
We've done such a lot of living
Since you left us so bereft.

Though none of us could understand
Why we had so soon to part,
Be sure there's been a space for you,
In each and every loving heart.

As so many of our loved ones
Have now met you up above,
I'm sure they have all told you,
How we've longed for you with love.

Joyce

Dear Joyce; I'm so sorry for your loss, too soon taken from you, it does sound as though the love you shared was a beautiful one. Love, Ellie

I'm sorry, but a lovely piece.

Don't ever give in, if you do you've lost everything you've ever had and everything you hope to gain, but if you carry on your already winning.

I didn't know, Joyce.
I'm so sorry.
Thanks for the reality check.

Ah, Joyce - what a tender tribute to your love....
I know how you must feel....and it's rather frightening for me to realize that 'after all these many years' the pain is still there...
I've yet to get through my first year, and it can be so very hard sometimes....
This is very beautiful, thank you for sharing it.
Lary

Dear Laryalee,  I am so sorry for you if you are still in a first year loss.  Yes the pain stays for all of the things that might have been, but the lovely  memories compete and it gets better.  My best to you. Love, Joyce

The years we had were joyous,
Until you left so soon.
For you the day had ended.
For me it was only noon.

If you only had this four line in your poetry, I still would have competely felt the pain and understood the meaning.
