Here's a drink that I bet no one ever thought of! Hark ye lads and lasses all Come 'round the table, give ear to my call Listen to the tale that I'm about to spin 'Bout a young man, name o' Mickey Finn. Many a year ago in ole Dublin town He would search the streets up and then down Searching for the father he never knew His only momento, a picture of yellow'd hue. 'Twas given to him by his mum on the day she died A sad day for all, many people cried. "I'll find 'im one day mother" was the promise he gave As he stood alone, a lone shadow on her grave. So he began his journey to Dublin the very next day How long he was gone, none could really quite say. Until into the pub one day, came an old man Bruised and battered, and shaking of hand. No one knew who had let the stranger in, Becasue by that time, Mickey had no kin. Till an old man yelled out, "Mickey Finn!" and shook his hand. "Ye've been gone so long, what brings ye back to this land?" Mickey sat back and ordered a pint of ale Then began to tell us his sad and bitter tale. Of how he found his father one cold, dark night And how he could have killed him without a fight. But he did none of that, oh no, not Mickey. He had come up with a plan that was much more tricky He invited his father to a pub, The Painted Quail, For a few glasses of bourbon, and a couple pints of ale. They began to talk and the Mickey revealed The secret that for so long had been kept sealed. "Dad don't ya know me? I'm Mickey! Your son!" His father said, "Ye're lying me boy, I'm father to no one. . . " Mickey knew he would say this, 'twas part of his plan To get his revenge on this cold, hateful man. You see, he'd put a vial of poison in the old man's ale. And after he'd drank it, he turned quite pale. He toppled off the stool and fell back on the floor But not before Mickey could bolt for the door. When the people came 'round they saw his father's head Had cracked on the floor and now he was dead. The moral of my story is this, good man, you see, Drink only with your friends and not your enemies. For after you've tasted their pint of sin, You'll belly up to the bar that's tended by Mickey Finn. < !signature--> That which gives light must endure burning --Victor Frankl [This message has been edited by Sven (edited 12-17-1999).] |
