Midwestern Roadside Longings I-70 Everyone always tells me they wanna get out of this little place in the middle of nowhere. There ain't no life in this state. 80 mph across the plains with the sun caressing the red grass that grows out there where everyone wants to get away from. It's so lonely and it makes sense but I just wanna stay and revel in the tragic nature of this whole forlorn state. When the sun goes down and everything starts to vanish in the indestructible black I just know. US 75 There are satellites in the sky and if you look up at just the right moment 185 miles south- southwest of the big town you can see them float over the vast prairies and thank God they're up there in out space, best place for cold steel to live. And sometimes the moon, full of light will come & you can smile or wish upon a star so all your dreams'll come true, or maybe just one. US 54 The mornings after are always the worst, after the whole night's been up wailing its blues like an all night jazz bar and you're the only one to hear it and she's back somewhere else. I-35 Just let me take to the roads a while cause the pavement's a soothsayer and what it's saying I can hear sometimes if I listen just right and really want to. It ain't just everywhere your car can go 300 miles w/o seeing a soul or a turn but still seem to get it all. But those roads keep their futures like secrets & when I get back the words are never there. Bitter Interlude/Rendition/Refrain But neither are you. Always continuing.... (Secret Bonus Track/Early Release/Archive Special) I can hear the wind blow for miles on the open plains. At night, it rattles the windows while I stay up and acknowledge its mournful call, wishing you were here (you: the one I speak to; me; the howling night wind; the clear black skies; or just you, simple enough). Nothing more to be said, just roll along with the music & be washed away into sleep. I like too many things and get all confused and hung-up running from one falling star to another till i drop. This is the night, what it does to you. I had nothing to offer anybody except my own confusion. —Jack Kerouac |

Very, very nice... Sounds like my home state. MAY THE ROAD RISE TO MEET YOU, MAY THE WIND BE ALWAYS AT YOUR BACK MAY THE SUN SHINE UPON YOUR FACE THE RAINS FALL SOFT UPON YOUR FIELDS AND, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN, MAY GOD HOLD YOU IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND Irish Blessing |
